3.6 Operation Cases
BS62 non-transparent bearer service, TS62 and TS61 facsimile services will be taken as examples to describe the specific operation procedures in the following.
        3.6.1 BS26 Service
Specific operation procedure of BS26 service:
1. Define the data service subscriber in the Multi-MSISNDN or single-MSISDN mode. For the specific operation procedure of defining the subscriber in the Multi-MSISDN or single-MSISDN mode, please refer to the section “HLR Subscription Data Configuration”.

2. Connect the MS with the data terminal according to the usage instruction of the data suit. During the connection, make sure that the suit is properly connected with the data terminal. Many problems will occur in the case of improper connection. Please refer to Common Problems and Solutions.
3. Set the MS to the data communication mode if the single-MSISDN scheme is adopted when the call is from the fixed subscriber to the mobile subscriber. Such an operation mode can only be supported by Ericsson-developed mobile stations such as Ericsson788, 688, 888 and 788c (The sequence of entering the mobile setting menu is "menu->next call type->data”). The Multi-MSISDN scheme can be adopted for other mobile stations.
4. BitCom for the bearer service
Select the appropriate COM port, (Bitware_Setup_Modem Setup), which can be found from “Control Panel – System – Device Management – Modem – Properties – Connection”.
Open the BitCom window at both ends. If it shows unable to open the Bitcom port, this Bitcom port may be occupied by other software (such as Winfax, HyperTerminal, Receive Manager). In this case, the Bitcom port should be shut off.
As for the priority subscriber, the “AT+CBST” command can be executed to set the connection mode. For example, "AT+CBST=7, 0, 1” can be set for the connection mode of the 9600bps non-transparent bearer service. As for the ordinary subscriber, this step can be skipped and the following operations can be directly performed.
Set “ATS0=1” in the BITCOM window at the called side.
Key in the appropriate ATDT×××××× in the BITCOM window at the calling side to perform the dialing operation.
“Carrier” is displayed at the calling side and “RING” at the called side. If “Connect 9600” is shown at both sides some time latter, it means that the two sides have been connected.
After the connection, the characters input at both sides will be shown on the screen of the peer end. At this time, the file can be sent. Click [Action]=>[Send File] and select a file transmission protocol. Then any selected files can be sent. If “Zmodem protocol” is selected to send the file, “Zmodem” dialog box will pop up at the receiving side. If ASII code is selected to send the file, it will be directly displayed on the screen of the peer end. To receive the file, the receiving party should select such mode as [Action]=>[Receive File]=>[ASCII].
Press the key in the MS or click [Hangup] icon in the tool bar of the BITCOM window to end the bearer service. Note: if one party uses the fixed MODEM and the disconnection period lasts for a long time, you have to dial again after the fixed MODEM is disconnected.
The default connection mode of the bearer service is the rate connection of the non-transparent 9600bits/s. If the advanced subscriber intends to set the connection mode of the bearer service by itself, he can set the connection mode by executing the “AT+CBST” command at the radio side. For the specific use of this command, please refer to Appendix.
         3.6.2 BS25 Service
To set the rate, just set “AT+CBST=6, 0, 1” (non-transparent) or “AT+CBST=6, 0, 0”. For other operation procedures, please refer to BS26 Service.
         3.6.3 BS24 Service
To set the rate, just set “AT+CBST=4, 0, 1” (non-transparent) or “AT+CBST=4, 0, 0”. For other operation procedures, please refer to BS26 Service.
          3.6.4 TS61 Service
            I. TS61 service from the MS to the fixed phone
The specific operation procedure of voice fax alternate service(TS61) is as follows:
1. Define the fax service subscriber in the Multi-MSISNDN or single-MSISDN mode. For the specific operation procedure of defining the subscriber in the Multi-MSISDN or single-MSISDN mode, please refer to the section “HLR Subscription Data Configuration ”.
2. Connect the MS with the data terminal according to the usage instruction of the data suit. During the connection, make sure that the suit is properly connected with the data terminal. Many problems will occur in the case of improper connection. Please refer to Common Problems and Solutions.
3. Set the MS to the SPEEH-FAX communication mode. Such an operation mode can only be supported by Ericsson-developed MS such as Ericsson788, 688, 888 and 788c (The sequence of entering the mobile setting menu is "menu->next call type->fax”).
4. The BITWARE, the MS as the sender and the fixed subscriber as the receiver are taken as an example in the facsimile service.
Select the COM port of the used MODEM, which can be found from “Control Panel – System – Device Management – Modem – Properties – Connection”. Start BITWARE at both sides, find Setup, click to enter the Setup window and click MODEM. Then set the COM port in the “PORT” item and select the type of MODEM in the “TYPE” item (except for NOKIA DATA SUIT 1,select CLASS 1 for 0 and select CLASS 2 for the rest). If the set COM port is unavailable, it can be checked with “AUTO DETECT” in the MODEM Setup window. Click the “Transmit” icon in the first start toolbar to pop up the Transmit Fax window. Click the “NEW” icon in the window toolbar to create a new fax file and particularly pay attention that the Fax No. should not be entered in the FAX PHONE item. Then click to pop up a waiting dialog box. At this time, the No. of the peer end can be entered into th MS.
After the connection, the speech service should be used first. After the speech service, the peer side can be asked to change to the fax receiving status. At this time, at the calling side the fax tone is heard. After 4 or 5 fax tones are heard, press the key. Then the BITWARE software starts the fax process.
During the fax process, if the calling side does not display “CALLING” all the time, this COM port may be occupied by other software (e.g. HyperTerminal, Receive Manager, Winfax). Then just shut off this COM port.
After the fax process is over, both sides will automatically disconnect the call. Note: if one side uses the fixed MODEM and the disconnection period lasts for a long time, you have to dial again after the fixed MODEM is disconnected.
Note: for TS61 service from the mobile to the fixed phone, the mobile subscriber must be the calling party no matter whether the MS or the fixed phone sends the fax.
II. TS 61 service from mobile to mobile
When Winfax is used to initiate the mobile-to-mobile TS61 service, the speech setup process is the same as the operation described in the first part. We can see that both the calling and called parties use two BCs via A-interface signaling, with the voice BC being first.
If both the calling and called parties use Bitware, the called party is required to start Receive FAX. When the fax file is received, the called MS can initiate the Modify process only after [Job]=>[Manual Receive] has been started.
If both the calling and called parties use Winfax, and the calling subscriber sends the fax without filling the Fax No., a dialog box will pop up to prompt the subscriber to use the current connection for fax. If the called party sets the auto receiving mode, the MS will execute the Modify process immediately after answering the call. If the called party has not set the auto receiving mode, the manual receiving mode will be adopted to enable the voice BC to initiate the Modify process. Therefore, if both the calling and called parties use Winfax, the called party can be set to send the fax file while the calling party to receive the fax file. Some IWF board software versions of our MSC can support the function that the called party sends the fax file while the others (those versions modified by DCD forcibly) do not.
In the case of TS61 service and Winfax manually receiving the fax file, some MSs can not initiate the Modify process. For instance, Nokia 6150 MS can not use Winfax to initiate TS61 service. This is a compatibility problem.
To solve the problems of the terminal and the terminal software, and to test the MSC or the TS61 service of the BSC, the recommended combination is: the calling party should adopt “EricssonXXX+Winfax” and the called party should adopt “EricssonXXX” or “Siemens6688+Winfax”.
           III. TS62 service
The specific operation procedures of G3 auto facsimile service (TS62) are described in the following:
1. Define the facsimile service subscriber in the Multi-MSISDN or single-MSISDN mode. For the specific operation procedure of defining the subscriber in the Multi-MSISDN or single-MSISDN mode, please refer to the section “HLR Subscription Data Configuration ”.
2 . Connect the MS with the data terminal according to the usage instruction of the data suit. During the connection, make sure that the suit is properly connected with
the data terminal. Many problems will occur in the case of improper connection. Please refer to Common Problems and Solutions.
3. Set the MS to the FAX communication mode when the service is from the fixed subscriber to MS, the MS is the called and the single-MSISDN scheme is adopted. Such an operation mode can only be supported by Ericsson-developed MS such as Ericsson 788, 688, 888 and 788c (The sequence of entering the mobile setting menu is "menu->[next call type]->[fax]”). Other MSs should adopt the Multi-MSIDN scheme.
4. Winfax is taken as an example in the facsimile service.
A: Select the COM port of the used MODEM, which can be found from “Control Panel – System – Device Management – Modem – Properties – Connection”.

B: Start Winfax at both sides and find [TOOLS]=>[PROGRAM Setup]=>[MODEM and Communications Devices]. Find the appropriate MODEM from [Connection Device] and activate it (by selecting the ACTIVE option). Select PROPERITIES, view GENERAL and set MODEM TYPE. Set the initial connection rate such as 9600bps. The called side might not be set. For the specific operations, please refer to the following Figures.
Figure 3-34 Selecting the MODEM to be used by Winfax

C: The sending side selects FAX icon from the toolbar. Click to open the FAX window. Enter the Fax No. of the peer side in the NUMBER column. Then click the Insert Attachment icon, attach the necessary fax file and select .
D: Click the SEND icon of the tool bar in the FAX window to send the fax file.
E: During the fax process, if the calling party does not display “CALLING” all the time, then other software (e.g. HyperTerminal & Receive Manager) is possibly using this COM port. In this case, just shut off this COM port.
F: After the fax file has been sent, both parties will automatically disconnect the call. Note: if one party uses the fixed MODEM and the disconnection period lasts for a long time, you have to dial again after the fixed MODEM is disconnected.
